THE NEW BOB

"The new bob makes a strong statement for Spring/summer as fashion becomes looser and more unfinished. Shorter sexier hair shows off the beauty of the face and gives perfect femininity whilst being easy to maintain. The bob perfectly frames the face accentuating cheekbones and the curved fringe makes the eyes pop. Think shiny, healthy sexy hair when looking towards Spring/Summer.
"The bob is timeless and always looks beautiful as it can be worn in a variety of different ways always depending on time and your mood!"

Get the Look – Twisted Finish

Curls? Plaits? Updos? Can’t decide which one? This style has it all! A fresh and funky look for spring, that’s easy to achieve. Just follow the steps below to create this stunning updo.

Steps by steps created in association with Your Hair magazine.

1. Apply L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art volume lift mousse to wet hair, comb through then blowdry smoothly.

2. Starting from the nape of the neck, tong all the hair using a small-barrelled tong. Once all the hair has been curled, brush through to soften the curls.

3. Plait the hair on the righthand side securing at the ends with a hair band.

4. Tuck all the hair under at the back of the head (including the ends of the plait) and secure with pins.

The affluent up-do

The affluent up-do

  • Work a boosting spray, such as L'Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Volume Expand Root Lift Spray £9.95 through damp hair, then lift and smooth it with a dryer and large round brush like the ghd Ceramic Vented Radial Brush, £12.75, getting as much root lift as possible.
  • Using the same brush, smooth the hair back away from the face and use your fingers to loosely wrap the hair under itself at the nape of the neck. This look involves hiding the length so it’s perfect for shorter styles.
  • Fix in place with kirby grips inside the looped hair so they remain hidden. Use fingers to pull the hair into place making it even on each side and to add extra volume.
  • If necessary, use a tail comb to add a touch of extra height at the crown, but leave the sides as they are to avoid creating a rigid shape with the hair.
  • Allow stray hairs to come free. This will keep it from looking too mature. Fix with a strong hold hairspray such as ghd Final Fix Hairspray, £8.45.

    • After washing hair with a volume-building shampoo such as Tigi Bed Head Styleshots Epic Volume Shampoo - 250ml, £7.50 gently towel your wet hair a little and use a volumising spray such as ghd Style Root Lift Spray, £11.00.
    • Take sections three inches thick and, using a hairbrush such as ghd Ceramic Vented Radial Brush - 25mm, £12.75. Smooth each section out from the root then down. Hold the brush and dryer at the root for a second before working down.
    • Direct the nozzle of the ghd Air Hairdryer, £99, downwards against the hair (to close the cuticle and aid shine) on full power and medium heat.
    • Once each section is dry, blast it with the dryer’s cold shot setting to seal it, before winding it into a loop and fixing it to the head with a kirby grip. Allow to cool.
    • Remove the pins and hold the ends between your fingers while backcombing slightly at the roots with the brush to make the hair look thicker. Brush through the top layer to smooth and fix into a middle parting.

    Future Fetish with ghd

    Future Fetish

Cut the fuss and keep things slick, minimal and seriously straight this season with this How to tutorial from ghd

    1 PROTECT

Working with damp hair, apply ghd Style Heat Protect Spray evenly throughout the lengths and ends. This will protect your hair from the heat from your hairdryer and styler.

     2 PRODUCT PREP

With your hair still damp, apply a couple of pumps of ghd Style Straight & Tame Cream to the full length of your hair. Extra long hair will probably need a little more product.

    3 PART AND DRY

With your ghd Tail Comb, create a centre parting. Using your hairdryer's airflow, train the roots flat to the scalp. Use the ghd Paddle Brush as you blow-dry to achieve a flat finish.

      4 START TO STRAIGHTEN

Once your hair is completely dry, working from the back, use the ghd Gold Max styler to straighten, section by section. Work with sections between 8-10 centimetres wide.

     5 STRAIGHTEN LENGTHS

Try to keep a light but steady tension from root to tip. Use the styler in one fluid movement along the lengths. This technique will ensure a perfectly smooth and straight result.

     6 SMOOTH & FINISH

Mist the top of your hair with ghd Style Straight & Smooth Spray, then use only the top plate of the ghd Gold Max Styler to smooth away any flyaway hairs spoiling the finish.

Hair by L’Oréal Professionnel – The Power Pony

The pony tail was one of the sleekest catwalk looks for Spring/Summer 2012.

    The Catwalk Inspiration

From AQUASCUTUM to PRINGLE and EMILIO DE LA MORENA, the pony came in many guises on London’s runways: sleek, to the side, disheveled, folded and accessorised.

    How It’s Done

    1. Spray L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art pli to the mid-lengths and ends of dry hair. This helps to lock in texture. Then apply a golf ball-sized amount of L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art volume lift to the roots, paying particular attention to the hairline to ensure it is kept sleek.

    2. Apply L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art crystal gloss to the mid-lengths and ends before using ceramic straightening irons. Straighten hair section by section around your head until all your hair is straight and smooth.

    3. Gather the hair into a ponytail and position it midway between the crown and the nape of your neck. Take a bungee elastic to secure – this will give a tighter knot than a regular hair elastic.

    4. Take a small section of the ponytail, gently backcomb it, then wrap the length around the elastic and pin in place to disguise it. Finish with a mist of L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art gloss control to leave hair look beautifully shiny.
